Skeeter Saves her New Brother

I just thought I'd give you an update and some pictures of Skeeter - who is now known as Mia. She is doing really well. It's hard to believe that she's only been in our house 2 1/2 weeks. She is mostly past her resource guarding, cat chasing and is learning her manners at an extraordinary pace.  Teddy - who had significant seperation anxiety - has been helped tremendously by this little girl and we all thank you for it!

Zorro Found his Forever Home

Dear Staff at DCHS,

We just wanted to send you all an email and say hi and give you guys an update on Zorro, whom we adopted in July. Zorro is doing great! He has been a wonderful addition to our family. Everyone who meets him, loves him. We just absolutely love him and he is getting along really well with our lab mix that we have. They love to run and play all day long. We are hoping to stop up sometime soon when we are up that way, so that you guys can see him, we know you all fell as in love with him as we did. I have attached some pictures of him for you all.

Finally, A Home for Creedance

Hello,

Thank you for allowing us to adopt our Beagle. She is such a bright light!!

I just wanted to update you on Creedance. We are so thrilled that she was waiting for us to find her earlier this spring! She such a wonderful additional to our family.  One look at her and we were hooked!  She is so playful and always minds us.

We are so lucky to have her as part of our family!!

Puppy Mill to Puppy Palace

Just wanted to give you a quick update on Lucy. She is doing great so far. So much is so foreign to her but, every day she opens up a little more, she discovers more and we gain a little more of her trust. It has been so rewarding to watch her come out of the shell she was trapped in for so long. She has a long way to go but, we are totally committed to her and we are crazy about her. You wouldn't believe how much she craves and seeks attention from us. It is so cool. Anyway, if you guys don't mind, we'd like to bring her up sometime so you can see how well she is doing.  Once again, thank you for giving us the opportunity to adopt Lucy.

Spoiled Rotten?

Hi!

It's been a few months since we adopted "Tantrum" from the Dodge County Humane Society.  We have since renamed him Diesel.  He has been a wonderful addition to our family.  He is our first dog (since my own childhood), and my husband, 7and 3 year old daughters, and I just love him!  In the few months we've had him, he's graduated puppy classes, learning to sit, stay, down and shake on command.  He loves going for walks, and never seems to run out of energy.  He is an extremely loving dog, he especially does well with young children.  Our 3 year old was a bit afraid of dogs before Diesel, but now the two of them are inseparable.  He is a spoiled puppy, he is constantly getting new toys and treats, but he deserves all of it.  As with all puppies, he had a few accidents at first, and he still jumps up a bit (mostly when he meets new people, he just gets so excited!), but he has been a joy to have around.  I feel like he's been a part of our family forever, and can't remember what it was like before we had a dog!  Every where we go people are always complimenting us on how cute Diesel is, and they always want to know what breed he is...well, we don't know for sure and never will but its fun to guess and hear what other people think......Staffordshire Bull Terrier and...black lab?  shepherd?   As far was we are concerned he's the perfect mix of sweet, loving, cute, obedient and fun!  Thank you for letting us bring Diesel aka Tantrum into our home!

A Puggle's Story: Cornelius

We, (Al & Debra ) lost our beloved dog Waldo to a stroke.  Our household consisted of  an elderly cat that sleeps all day and grown children.  With the idea of not replacing our dog but helping an unfortunate animal , Cornelius (formerly Bronco)was found. He was on the DCHS available dog list, but was being fostered with a wonderful woman named Patrice.  She explained to us about his special needs and also told us that she would have kept him herself.  We took him home on 10-02-08 and are very happy with him. With scratched corneas and allergies, he seems to love his backyard and  his walks through the small Village of Johnson Creek.

He is our little happy camper!

Haley's Comet

Hi!

We adopted Haley (we changed the spelling a bit, like Haley’s comet!) last Thursday. She’s doing GREAT!  She hasn’t stopped wagging her tail, she’s getting along really well with our other dog, and she’s adjusting to her crate very quickly.  She’s just a little joy! We absolutely love her… and her fancy little “shoes”.

Lois gets Pampered

Just wanted to let you know Ms. Lois is doing great.  I've attached a picture
of her after her spa bath at the vet. She loves riding in the car and playing in her big fenced in yard.  She
also rides in the semi-truck & goes to Florida twice a month.  She has been a excellent addition to our family!

Silly Bugsy!

Hey guys!

We just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that Bugsy is doing
wonderfully! He's gotten settled in here and all of the kids in the
neighborhood absolutely adore him. (We've told everyone where they can come
to adopt his brother and sister.) The funnest part is when he gets the
tennis ball out. He'd play fetch all day if we let him!

Thanks again for everything!

Bob, Lisa, Logan, and Bugsy

Goliath Update

Hi there!

It’s been 8 months since we adopted Goliath (was Champ), and we feel like he’s been part of our family forever!  We just adore him.  Everyone who meets him loves him.  He is registered as a therapy dog now, and we go on regular visits.  He loves his job!  Everyone asks what breeder we got him from and thinks he cost a fortune. J  They are all amazed that he is a shelter dog, but we love to tell everyone that we do all our shopping there.  (Our last four dogs have been from various shelters.)  Thanks for all you do!

Say hello to everyone for us!

Rukus works his Magic

I was very devastated after losing my 1 year old kitten Cody to FIP.
Although it is a terminal illness, I tried everything I could, including
natural medicine to try to save him.  In December of 2008, he succumbed to
his illness and based on his quality of life, at that moment, I had to put
him down.  I went through a terrible grieving process, worse than I had ever
experienced.  I wasn't sure how I was going to snap out of it.  I found the
Petfinder webstie and started looking through the kitties up for adoption.
I didn't think I was ready for another, until, I came across Rukus at the
Dodge County Humane Society.  I saw his picture and knew he was the one.  He
also, looked very much like my Cody.  Unfortunately he was already spoken
for, but I was told that I could call back at a later date to make sure that
the adoption took place.  I was very disappointed.  However, I did call back
in a few weeks and found that he was still available.  He was six months old
and had been at the shelter for about 5 of those months.  I knew then, that he was
meant for me.  We drove 2 hours in a snowstorm a few days later and adopted
him.  I fell in love with him as soon as I saw him.  I just love him so
much.  He is the most adorable, loving, kitty.  He helped me through a very
difficult time.  I renamed him Codee after the kitty that I lost.  Every day
when I pull up in the driveway after work, he pops in the window to say
"Welcome Home, Mom!" , then meets me at the door.  When he does this I thank
God that Codee found his way to me.  Thanks for letting me share this story.

Calamus' First Night Home

I wanted to let everyone know Calamus had a great first night in his new home. He found a chair he love... that is now his! He seems very happy. And I'm proud to say we took our first walk last night and he did a great job! You guys were right he loves to cuddle! I attached a few pic's. I will send some more once he's nice and healthy.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to give Calamus a great forever home. He is greatly loved already!

Sincerely,

Kari Peterson

Leo Elvis and his new Best Friend, Laddie

Hi All;

I wanted to update you on our kitty, who we named Leo Elvis.  (It's a long story).  As you can tell from the attached picture, Leo has adjusted quite nicely and very much enjoys his royal subject (Laddie our collie, who we got from Minnesota Wisconsin Collie Rescue five years ago).  He would really like Laddie to play, but at least Laddie is tolerant when Leo runs full speed at the dog, pounces on him and then leaps off and runs away.  When the dog's food is put down, Leo naturally runs over and helps the dog eat it.  Sometimes they share, but occasionally Laddie lays down and waits for Leo to finish eating.

When not snuggling with his doggie, Leo loves to go in the back yard.  If you put a leash on him he flops on his side to let you know he, King Leo, will not be walked! But if you put him on the tie out in the back yard he just loves that. He will walk all over the house meowing loudly proclaiming "I want to go outside now!" When you are putting on his harness to go outside he just purrs and purrs.  Then he's off to hunting the dreaded butterflies who dare invade his territory.  He hasn't caught one yet, but that doesn't stop him from trying.

Thank you for the wonderful addition to our family!

Mikey, the Gentle Giant

Hi,

Mikey has adjusted very well.  As you can see he has been to the Northwoods.  He enjoys pontoon boat rides and has found that life jackets make a good spot to lay or he is just playing it safe.  He likes to be outside in his yard with his sister Carlie.  She and he have SO MUCH fun playing.  Mikey has learned many house routines from Carlie.  He jumps in bed every morning after his dad gets up.  He and I sleep-in.  Beds, cars couches and car rides are his favorites.  Everyone is impressed with his kind temperment.  Mikey is a gentle giant.

His forever mom, Sally

OTTO'S NEW HOME

FORMERLY KNOWN AS DALI

Hello to the wonderful staff at the Dodge County Humane Society!!!
Just wanted to give you an update on Dali, the American Bulldog Mix we adopted on July 8th. It took a few days to find the perfect name, but we finally settled on Otto. As you can see, Otto is doing great in his new home!!! Our brother's dog, Ranger, spent the weekend with us and they became best friends from the moment they met!!! Otto loves his squeaky toys, snuggling with Ranger and going for long walks around our neighborhood. He has also proven to be quite the gentlemen at the dog park and plays extremely well with other dogs and children! Otto is still quite curious about our cats and has the urge to chase, but he's getting better and better each day. We could not be more happy with our new baby and greatly appreciate everything you did for us. We looked for a dog for over a month and your shelter was by far the most professional, welcoming place we had been to. The whole experience was so wonderful and we're grateful to have Otto. Thanks for rescuing him and continuing to do such selfless work every day.
Love,
Jeff, Annie and Ottto

What a Smile!!

I just wanted to send you a few pictures of Tula (formerly Destiny).  We adpoted her in April 2008 and we absolutely adore her.  She is wonderful with my kids, other animals (her best friend is a 18 pound terrier) and loves to be our companion.  I think Tula loves being our lapdog!  Thanks again!

Julienn

Ilean lives the good life!

To all my friends at the Dodge County Humane Society,

You all might remember me as a kitten named Elizabeth.  I had a broken front paw when I came to you that had never healed quite right.  You wonderful people took good care of me at the humane society until early September when you found me a new family to live with.  When I left you there was a very strong possibility that I would lose my whole front leg to amputation because of my deformed front foot.  My new mommy took me to your vet to have me spayed and possibly amputate my leg at that time.  Both your vet and my new vet in Waupun agreed that although my leg was not aestetically pretty to look at, there was no need to remove it.  Because my new family is a bit silly and have a sense of humor they changed my name to Ilean (get it?  I lean)  I love my new home!!  I have a big yellow lab named Honey that I spend a lot of time with.  And when my family is home they spend all sorts of time playing with me.  I have lots and lots of toys but my favorite thing is the play mice which I love to hide and hunt and put in my family's shoes.  I am very friendly and everyone that visits the house says I am the coolest cat they have ever met.  I love all people and like to be involved in everything that people are doing.  I don't go outside but everyone comes to visit me inside so that's okay.  I purr all the time and love to lay on everyone's lap.  I am always playing and my family says I make them laugh every day.  Sometimes they say I'm naughty because I am very curious but they understand that I am still a kitten and they love me very much no matter what I do.  I just wanted to tell you that I am doing very well and want to thank you for finding me a family that loves me so much.  My mommy tells me every day that I am the best cat in the world.  I love everyone in my new family and hope that you continue to find good homes for all your animals there. Thanks again for giving me a chance.  I love all of you too!

Griffon finds himself the PERFECT home!

Hey everyone! It's been a week now since we adopted Bo, or as we now call him Griffon, and we thought it would be appropriate to give you all an update on how he's doing!  It's been tough, but Griffon is adjusting to life in our house just fine. He's doing really well with his potty/crate training and has had only 2 accidents in the house.  We're learning lots of new things about him too! When we first initially met him he seemed rough and adventurous, but now we're finding out that he's more of a cuddle bug and kind of a chicken when it comes to some things.  He doesn't like being outside in the cold for too long and usually does his business right in front of the door. He doesn't like being in his crate if he knows you're home, but he's learning to deal with it and stops whining and barking once he knows it's not getting your attention.  He's starting to realize that he has to sit and be calm and quiet before he gets his meals or let out of his crate. He likes to wake me up at 6:30 in the morning to go potty, but at least he's letting me know he needs to go.  He also is learning that if he has to go potty when he's out of his crate he can go sit by the door and whine.  He's very smart and getting along with our other two dogs very well.  I've attached some pictures of him for all of you to see!  Thank you so much for letting us adopt him, he's been a good outlet for me to put my spare time now that my husband has shipped off for his training with the military. He's also starting to fill the empty spot we had from putting our other dog down.  We'll be sending you another update in about a month!

Thanks,

Jake, Ally, Layla, Jewels & Griffon

Little Latte is Growing up!

I promised the girls at the shelter that I would send pics of "Latte" and keep forgetting, so I'm finally sending a few. We renamed her Juno and she is the sweetest puppy ever! She sleeps right next to me and is super cuddly! She seemed to limp on her bad leg for only a week or so, and is full of energy now! Juno is fully potty trained and is great around other dogs and kids, but loves laying on everyone's laps best! She is growing very fast, it seems like she's getting bigger every day and really doesn't seem like a puppy that was the runt of the litter. My boyfriend and I are so happy with her, she is constantly making us laugh, especially when she sleeps and snores with her eyes open!
Thanks to all the girls at Dodge Co. Humane Society!
